Glass, from the very beginning

After the earth, the vegetables, the herbs and the broth, there is another material that has accompanied our cooking since the very first day.

Glass.

It begins with sand, fire, an immense heat. Then this clear material appears, crossed by light, able to hold a colour, a texture, a shade.

At Karine & Jeff, glass came to us as something obvious.

It let people see what we wanted to share: the gold of a velouté, the deep red of cooked tomatoes, the green of a pistou, the presence of vegetables, lentils, grains, all those shades that are born slowly in the cooking.

In a jar, the recipe appears before it is even served.

The eye goes in first. It recognises a colour, senses warmth, gentleness, sometimes a longing for somewhere else. Then comes the gesture: opening, heating, pouring, perhaps adding a drizzle of olive oil, a few fresh herbs, a piece of bread, an egg, a salad.

The cooking begins with us, then carries on with you.

Over time, the jar has become a signature of the house of Karine & Jeff.

A simple shape.
A clear material.
A colour you recognise even before opening it.

There are details that seem modest and end up telling the whole story.

For us, glass is one of them.
